LANAP

According to the US Surgeon General, periodontal disease (gum disease) affects 85 percent of adults in the United States. Periodontal disease can lead to more serious medical conditions, and should be treated in patients who are diagnosed. Treating periodontal disease is easier than ever; we now offer LANAP, a simple and safe outpatient procedure. This procedure has been cleared by the FDA and is being used by dentists across the country to clear away diseased gum tissue without cutting or stitching the gums. Call our office to for more information on the LANAP procedure.

LANAP Laser in Gilbert, AZ

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS TO HAVING THE THERAPY?
EASY – LANAP™
is about as EASY as erasing a blackboard — there’s no cutting and no suturing.

LESS DISCOMFORT
Patients report much LESS DISCOMFORT with LANAP than with standard surgery — during and after the procedure.

LESS TIME
It takes LESS TIME than traditional surgery. All it takes is two 3-hour visits to the office and a few shorter follow up visits.

FEWER TROUBLES DOWN THE ROAD- LANAP™
does not include the major loss of gum tissue that traditional surgery almost always involves. This tissue loss can lead to more sensitive teeth, since your roots are exposed. Also, if the treatment needs to be performed again in the future, you have not removed the bone and gums during the first treatment with LANAP. Typically, with LANAP, any gum tissue loss is actually reduced swelling of the area from the inflammation being relieved.

SHORT RECOVERY
Many patients find that they have less than a 24 HOUR RECOVERY period, so you won’t lose time from work. Healthy Smiles will recommend a soft diet for a few days. In most cases, patients feel fine right after the procedure.

SAFE – LANAP™
with the Periolase is SAFE for patients with health concerns such as diabetes, HIV, hemophilia, or those taking medications such as Coumadin or Cyclosporine.

A. Perio Probe indicates excessive pocket depth.
B. Laser light kills bacteria and diseased tissue. (Dotted line shows gum tissue cut away with traditional surgery.)
C. Ultrasonic scaler and hand instruments are used to remove root tartar.
D. Laser finishes cleaning and sterilizing pocket which aids in sealing the pocket closed so new germs cannot enter
E. Reattachment of connective tissue to the clean root surface, with a stable fibrin clot and gingival crest to create “a closed system”
F. Bite trauma is adjusted
G. New attachment is regenerated. New bond and new ligament is formed and healing occurs.

Digital X-Rays

In today’s rapidly growing world of medical technology, the use of digital x-rays is becoming more and more common. Dentists can now use digital x-rays to more efficiently examine problems like abscesses, cysts, tumors, impacted teeth, and jaw bone complications.digital x-rays in gilbert

Not only do digital x-rays help dentists to locate the root problem, it also allows them to store and share images with other dentists when a patient needs to see a specialist or a dentist in a different location.

Digital radiography also provides dentists with a high quality image which can then be enhanced and enlarged to help diagnose a patient and provide a simpler means of communication between patient and dentist.

What are the benefits of digital x-rays?

Besides the fact that digital x-rays offer higher quality images and sharing capability, they also expose patients to much less radiation, using 90% less than conventional x-rays.

Digital x-rays also provide patients with much shorter appointments. Instead of being forced to wait while the dentist develops the film from a conventional x-ray, digital x-rays offer an almost instant result that can be displayed on a computer in the matter of seconds.

Oral Cancer Screening

One person dies from oral cancer every hour. Oral cancer is a serious disease that affects families all across the United States and we hope to do everything in power to combat this disease. That’s why here at Gibbons Dental we’ve invested in the most cutting edge screening technology to catch oral cancer early.

The current survival statistics for oral cancer is 57% but that number rises to 80% if the disease is caught early. Early detection is paramount to beating cancer and saving areas of the mouth that may need to be surgically removed.

Gibbons Dental utilizes OralID to detect cancer early to help your chances of beating the disease.

How Does an OralID Screening Work?
OralID is a ground breaking technology that makes oral cancer screening easier and more accurate than ever before. Resembling an average flashlight, OralID is a non-invasive tool that utilizes a powerful fluorescent technology that helps doctors to detect abnormalities missed during a typical examination.

OralID utilizes a light to expose abnormalities below the surface of the skin before they can be seen or felt. This simple tool allows us to perform the cancer screening process in as little as 5 minutes.

Unlike other screening options, the potentially lifesaving technology of OralID is affordable for all of patients.

We don’t take our “best in the region” reputation lightly.
